Welp…months of hard work for what was supposed to be a celebratory/fun return to running a half marathon (7.5 years since my last one…I used to be fast, promise) with my speedy wife, who graciously agreed to slow down and run this one with me. Had to go over a minute slower per mile than what my Runna plan was ideally targeting. And my heart rate was still through the roof, almost right from the start. Average of 185 over the more than 2 hours 😳, which is absolutely insane. Yay for effort and not having a stroke I guess? Really, deeply bummed with this one. Was all I could do just to finish without walking/quitting. It was less than ideal in the rain today, but still. I thought I was at least ready for 2hrs again, but I guess not, and that’s a punch to the gut.
