USA! USA! USA! 🇺🇸🏅
Stephen Curry 2024 😳🏀🇺🇸🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅
Between USWNT soccer and USA basketball, this is the most patriotic day I’ve had in a long, long time 🇺🇸
If you had to pick ONE BOOK that, if everyone in the United States read it in its entirety before the 2024 election, would have the greatest positive impact on the wellbeing of the country and its citizens, which book would it be? (Please don’t say “The Bible” or any other religious primary text.)
USA! USA! 🇺🇸 Proud of the USWNT! 🥇⚽️
I love pens, but are any of the expensive “machined” pens (made out of titanium and the like) worth it? I’ve got my eyes on a BIGiDESIGN Ti Arto EDC, because it can take so many different refills, but I’m hesitant to drop $100 on a pen…
USA! USA! USA! 🇺🇸🏀
Hoo boy, this USA v Serbia game is a nail-biter! 🏀🇺🇸
As soberly and positively as you can: Why are Harris and Walz good for the USA?
What are the best print editions to own for foundational documents of the United States of America? Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, Federalist Papers, etc. Reliable text a must. Critical/study notes would be a plus.
On the shortcomings of the Barment Declaration:
David Congdon, writing in The Presbyterian Outlook:
“Conservative Christians are able to reach this interpretation of Barmen not merely because they discount history but because of a flaw in the Barmen Declaration itself. The Confessing Church’s statement says that the church obeys the Word of God alone but does not clarify what this Word means apart from an abstract idea of freedom. The Word of God thus easily becomes a cipher for any position the church views as divinely mandated, which can range from caring for the sick and marginalized to refusing mask mandates. To be sure, this flaw is what allowed for the approval of Barmen in 1934, and it is unlikely that the Confessing Church could have written a more robust statement at the time. But that only reinforces the point that Barmen is not timeless and arguably should not be viewed as a normative confession in the Reformed tradition.”
What’s the cheapest/easiest way to get online access to the Oxford English Dictionary? Sadly, my local library (Toledo Lucas County Public Library) doesn’t seem to offer online access.
I’m just a man asking more places to sell Penn State Creamery’s Grilled Stickies cinnamon bun ice cream 🍨
People in the PCUSA, what’s the best/latest edition of the Book of Confessions and the Book of Order to get? Just curious. #presbyterian #pcusa
Got any Washington DC travel tips? My wife and I are going there for a weekend trip soon. Staying at the Viceroy. I want to see Lincoln, Washington, & Vietnam monuments/memorials, plus the Library of Congress. What should we wear/carry? Where should we eat?
I save up what little patriotism I have for international sporting events. Anyone else? For example: Went full “‘Murica!” watching the USA beat Serbia in men’s basketball yesterday. 🇺🇸🏀🏅
Isaiah 58, but it’s about Christian outrage that is/isn’t pleasing to God. “Is not this the ‘culture war’ that I choose: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?”
Favorite Nietzsche quote. Go!
Evangelicals: “Communism never works, because people are sinful!” (cHrIsTiAn NaTiOnAlIsM) Evangelicals: “Well, see, this is different…”
Thinking about dropping my 2TB DropBox subscription and just going with my 2TB iCloud subscription. Anyone else out there paying for both these services? Any thoughts on dropping/keeping?
